Transferred from Polaroid snapshots of botanic life captured outdoors during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, these images materialized my inability to feel grounded in the present. They toggle between nostalgia and visions of an underwater future. Credit for the title of this project goes to Susan Barba, in her poem “Geode.”
Outside my apartment in Brooklyn, I projected a live stream of my hands making the emulsion lifts in my kitchen, every night from September 12-20, 2020, as part of the Neumeraki project Art Off-Screen, curated by Eileen Jeng Lynch.
